Here we installed a total of 53kW of solar arrays on the barn conversion roofs and on ground mounted arrays in the field. We also installed 43kWh of solar batteries to store excess solar energy. Two Stiebel Eltron WPE 33kWh ground source heat pump units with 4000 metres of ground collector pipework under a nearby field, were also put in. The whole installation provides both heating and hot water at around half the costs of the previous biomass boiler system. The heat pumps can be controlled and monitored remotely through an app.
