What does a yearly Heat pump service involve?

There are many reasons to get your heat pump serviced and keep the system well maintained:

Just as a traditional gas boiler needs servicing regularly to ensure that it isn’t leaking carbon monoxide, it is also important to have your heat pump serviced to check that it isn’t leaking the refrigerant that it uses to transfer heat from the ground or air to your home. This needs to be checked in line with manufacturers service instructions.

Manufacturers recommended that your heat pump is serviced to ensure that it’s running efficiently and to improve its lifespan. Your heat pump could lose some efficiency over time, so a properly checked and maintained pump could save you money too. If a typical 8kw heat pump is running 10% less efficiently than it is designed to may cost £150 more a year to run.

Most manufacturers state that their products need annual servicing if you want your warranty to remain valid – missing a service means that, should something go wrong with your heat pump, the costs won’t be covered. In some cases, you will need to have your heat pump serviced to meet the demands required for grants, such as the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).

If your system was not installed by JD Heating and Renewables, before signing up to the Premium Heat Pump Servicing and Maintenance Plan we would be required to carry out a one of service and system health check. This is to make sure that the heat pump has been installed correctly to regulations and manufacturers instructions. Any issues that may need addressing would be identified at this stage. Full Terms and conditions are available to download below and must be read before signing up to the plan.

What if my heat pump was installed by another company?

Our team is fully qualified to work on all renewable heating systems and we regularly undertake service and maintenance work on systems that we did not install.

We need to carry out a system health check, which includes a yearly service, before taking a system we did not install onto the servicing plan.
